The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine has warned that Russia is preparing a large-scale provocation with human casualties on the eve of or directly on 7 January, Christmas Day according to the Julian calendar.
The official statement is posted on the website of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
According to intelligence reports, the provocation is being prepared as part of a special operation by the Kremlin to disrupt the peace talks mediated by the United States.
‘This operation is complex in nature. After the so-called “attack on Putin’s residence”, we are seeing the Kremlin spreading new falsified information to prepare the Russian and foreign audience for further escalation,’ the statement said.
An armed provocation by the Russian special services with significant human casualties is expected on the eve of or during the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar.
‘The site of the provocation may be a religious building or other object of high symbolic significance, both in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine,’ the agency said.
To falsify evidence of Ukraine’s involvement, it is planned to use fragments of Western-made strike UAVs, which will be delivered to the site of the provocation from the line of combat.
