Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the war against Ukraine would not end until Ukrainian troops leave the Donbas region. He made the statement in an interview with Russian propagandist Pavel Zarubin.

According to Ushakov, even additional rounds of negotiations would not change Moscow’s position.

“Until it (Ukraine) takes this step, it is possible to hold several more rounds, dozens of rounds, but we will remain in the same place,” he said.

At the same time, Putin’s aide noted that the United States continues its attempts to negotiate an end to the war.

“Our active phone contacts are evidence of that,” Ushakov said.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he was ready to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a third country, but only after final agreements on a peace treaty are reached. According to Putin, such an agreement should be designed “for a long historical perspective.”
