Poland is discussing with Ukraine the possibility of transferring MiG-29 fighter jets in exchange for Ukrainian drone technologies. At the same time, Warsaw is ready to join the service maintenance and further actions related to missiles for Patriot systems.

This was stated by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, Polska Agencja Prasowa reports.

According to the Polish minister, talks are currently underway on implementing the experience of the war in Ukraine into Polish defense systems.

“There is a clear proposal: MiGs for drones. The Ukrainians said yes, then they started thinking, now they have returned to talks, and that is very good. I expect this proposal to be finalized positively,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

He also said that Poland is in a group of four NATO countries together with Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands, which received in Ankara the status of states to which a transfer of technologies related to the production and service maintenance of missiles for Patriot systems may take place.

According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, Poland is one of the countries indicated by the United States as a place where production and service maintenance of Patriot missiles should take place. He added that Warsaw will also cooperate with Ukraine on this issue.

The Polish minister noted that launching missile production in Ukraine is a matter of many weeks.

“This is not simple, if today only the United States has production of missiles for Patriot systems on a scale that does not secure even the United States, so this needs to be done very quickly. We are determined. Poland is ready immediately for service maintenance and further actions,” he said.
