Russian President Vladimir Putin informed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a phone call about the main outcomes of his conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Russian state media citing the Kremlin.
During the call, Orban expressed his readiness to host a potential Russia-U.S. summit in Budapest, which, he said, could take place within the next two weeks.
According to the Kremlin, Putin noted that upcoming talks with U.S. representatives are expected to focus on further steps toward resolving the situation in Ukraine.
Russian media reported that an organizing committee has already been formed in Hungary to prepare for the leaders’ visits. Orban added that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov “will try to settle all remaining issues within a week, after which Trump and Putin will be able to meet in Budapest.”
US President Donald Trump said during a press conference at the White House that he had a “very good conversation” with Russian President Vladimir Putin and plans to meet with him “in about two weeks” in Hungary.
