        Poland is reinforcing the protection of border crossings with Ukraine after Russian drone attacks that took place just a few miles from Polish border guard posts over the weekend. Polish troops are already involved in strengthening border infrastructure.

        This was reported by Reuters.

        On September 13, a Russian drone struck a passenger train on Ukrainian territory near the border with Poland, while another drone hit a truck at a nearby petrol station.

        “Recent days show that Russia’s actions threaten the security of all of Europe. In accordance with our government’s decision, the infrastructure used by the Border Guard is being strengthened,” Polish Defence Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X.

        According to him, soldiers of the 18th Engineer Regiment are already carrying out tasks that will strengthen checkpoints and infrastructure near the Polish-Ukrainian border.

        What fortifications are being built

        In a separate statement, the Polish army command said that engineer regiments are building border fortifications using collapsible containers lined with wire mesh.

        Such structures can be filled with sand or gravel and used as blast walls or retaining structures.

        Where the work is being carried out

        The construction work also includes observation and guard posts near the Polish-Ukrainian border. The areas concerned are near the following border crossings:

        • Dorohusk;
        • Medyka;
        • Korczowa.
