Polish Member of the European Parliament Marcin Sypniewski, who represents the Confederation party, tore up portraits of Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych during a speech. He also called for an end to financial support for Ukraine as long as the two figures are regarded as heroes in the country.
This was shown in a video published on the “Confederation” Facebook page.
During his speech, Sypniewski said that monuments to Bandera and Shukhevych had been erected in Ukraine and described them as responsible for mass killings of Polish civilians.
“Today’s Ukraine has Bandera and Shukhevych as its heroes, people associated with a movement responsible for mass ethnic cleansing of Poles. More than 100,000 Polish victims, mostly defenseless civilians: women, small children and elderly people,” he said.
During the speech, the MEP tore up portraits of Bandera and Shukhevych.
“How can we help a state that builds its identity on the cult of criminals?” Sypniewski said.
He said Poland should not give Ukraine “a single cent” as long as Bandera and Shukhevych are regarded as heroes in Ukraine.
“It is very simple: it is enough to start by honoring the memory of Polish victims and condemning criminals and collaborators,” the lawmaker said.
