President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during his visit to Istanbul. The parties discussed the situation in Ukraine, the fate of children, and peace negotiations.

During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated His All-Holiness on the upcoming Easter and thanked him for his support and prayers for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
The President expressed special gratitude for the support of Ukrainian military families, as well as for the “Warmth for Ukraine” initiative, which provides energy equipment to affected regions.
One of the key topics of discussion was Ukrainian children affected by Russian aggression. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew stressed that he constantly prays for Ukrainian children, especially those abducted by Russia, as well as for Ukrainians held in captivity.
Zelenskyy also informed about the negotiation process aimed at achieving a just peace, particularly contacts with the American side.
The parties also discussed the development of the church in Ukraine.
During the meeting, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed condolences over the death of the Honorary Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus’-Ukraine Filaret.
The President invited Bartholomew to visit Ukraine and noted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the restoration of independence.
In response, the Ecumenical Patriarch thanked for the invitation and noted that this year also marks 35 years of his patriarchal service. He added that these dates could be combined for a joint celebration.
