Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has arrived in Egypt, where he is set to face Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven in a title fight. The bout will take place in Giza against the backdrop of the famous Egyptian pyramids.

The news was reported by Ring Magazine.

Ahead of Usyk’s arrival, Rico Verhoeven also landed in Egypt. The Dutch kickboxing champion weighed in at 124.3 kg after arriving in Giza.

The Usyk vs Verhoeven fight is scheduled for May 23 under boxing rules. The WBC heavyweight title will be on the line in what will serve as a voluntary title defense for the Ukrainian champion.

Footage of the first stare-down between Usyk and Verhoeven after their arrival in Egypt has also appeared online.

Oleksandr Usyk is the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight world champion and one of the most successful boxers of his generation. He became the first undisputed cruiserweight champion of the four-belt era.

Rico Verhoeven is a multiple-time Glory kickboxing world champion and is widely regarded as one of the best kickboxers in the world.
