On 22 February, a new differentiated air raid alert system was launched in Kharkiv. From now on, alerts will sound separately for the city and the region, allowing for more precise threat detection.

According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv is the first city in Ukraine to implement such a project. This initiative aims to reduce the psychological burden on residents and improve economic activity.

“Last year alone, Kharkiv heard 2,113 air raid alerts — that’s 156 days of life under sirens. However, only 455 of them actually concerned the city itself. That’s five times fewer!” Terekhov noted.

The system was made possible through the collaboration of engineers, air defense specialists, the State Emergency Service, IT company Stfalcon, Ajax Systems, and other services.

“This is a step towards greater stability in all areas of life. Businesses, banks, government institutions, and service providers will operate longer without unnecessary interruptions. Most importantly, when an alert sounds, everyone will know the danger is real and must immediately head to shelter,” Terekhov emphasized.
