Today, November 26, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador after six UAVs violated the country’s airspace and one of the drones crashed into a residential building. The diplomat was handed a note of protest, and on the steps of the ministry he was met by a downed drone with the Z symbol.
This was reported by the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov received a note of protest regarding the violation of Moldova’s airspace by six drones on November 25. One of the drones with the Z symbol fell on a house in the north of the country.
“The ministry described these actions as completely unacceptable, stressing that they constitute a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and a direct threat to national and regional security. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call on the Russian Federation to avoid any actions that threaten the security of our country and to strictly comply with international norms, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova,” the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Ozerov, in turn, said that “the incident must be thoroughly investigated” and that there is no evidence that it was a Russian UAV.
“A note of protest was delivered regarding the flight of the drone. However, no evidence was provided to confirm that it was a Russian-made drone. Therefore, we have a question: why was the Russian ambassador invited, but not the Ukrainian one? Because the drone flew from the territory of Ukraine. We are surprised by this protest, and we can only shrug our shoulders,” the diplomat said.
As a reminder, on the night of November 25, Russia launched a combined strike on Ukraine with various types of missiles and strike drones. On Tuesday morning, Moldova confirmed the violation of its airspace by drones.
