The government has agreed on a draft presidential decree that will streamline military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, and the State Special Transport Service.
This was reported by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.
What changes are envisaged in military service
- Career after the war – the military will receive ranks and positions on a competitive basis (by rating), not just for length of service.
- Rotations – military personnel will be transferred to other positions to gain experience.
- New rules for contracts – the system for signing and extending contracts will be streamlined.
- New types of service – basic military service and reserve service are added.
- There will be no more conscript service – this format is being canceled.
As Honcharenko explained, these changes are part of a larger reform of NATO standards.
“But many of them will come into effect only after the war,” the MP noted.
