On the night of June 9, Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on the Kharkiv region, using attack drones and missiles. Kharkiv and Chuhuiv came under fire.
According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, 11 drone strikes were recorded in the city, while two more drones fell without detonating. The Shevchenkivskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts were targeted. Multi-story and private residential buildings, administrative and industrial facilities, a business center, a café, a church, shops, vehicles, and urban infrastructure facilities were damaged.
One of the drones struck a residential high-rise building, causing cars near the building to burn, dozens of vehicles to be damaged, and windows in nearby buildings to be shattered. Another drone hit an apartment building between the eighth and ninth floors but did not detonate. Residents were evacuated.








Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that buildings of a café and a municipal enterprise, as well as passenger vehicles, caught fire in Kharkiv as a result of the attack. According to preliminary data, 15 people were injured, including two children.
In Chuhuiv, missile strikes caused fires in garages, vehicles, and open areas. Residential and other buildings were damaged. Three people were killed — two men and one woman. Three more people were injured.
State Emergency Service units, including high-angle rescue teams, sappers, and psychologists, as well as police officers, medics, volunteers, and municipal workers, worked at the attack sites. Efforts to eliminate the consequences of the attacks are ongoing.
