Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the explosions in Lviv were a deliberate and cynical terrorist attack. According to him, there were two blasts, with the second occurring after emergency services arrived at the scene. Twenty-five people were injured, and a 23-year-old police officer was killed.
Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the victim’s family and said medical assistance is being provided to all the injured, including those in serious condition.
The president stated that the circumstances of the crime are being fully analyzed and that many facts have already been established. He said the perpetrators were recruited via Telegram and that the attack was organized by Russia. Details of the investigation will be presented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also instructed officials to develop additional response measures to prevent similar crimes. He noted that Ukrainian law enforcement already has experience countering such threats and has prevented dozens of similar incidents.
He called for greater involvement of communities, local authorities and state institutions to reduce Russia’s ability to organize terrorist attacks and sabotage inside Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, intelligence services have information that Russia intends to continue such attacks, making stronger protection measures necessary.
