According to exit polls, the current self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, is leading the presidential “elections” in Belarus.
According to the Belta news agency, Lukashenko allegedly received the support of 87.6% of voters.
Other candidates distributed their votes as follows:
- Oleg Gaidukevich – 1.8%;
- Anna Kanopatskaya – 1.6%;
- Sergei Sirankov – 2.7%;
- Oleksandr Khyzhnyak – 1.2%.
- In addition, 5.1% of voters voted against all candidates.
In total, Lukashenko has run for president six times – in 1994, 2001, 2006, 2010, 2015, and 2020 – and almost every time, according to the CEC, he has won more than 80% of the vote.
Ukraine and the EU called the presidential election in Belarus sham and illegitimate.
