Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has proposed fixing January 1, 2030 as the date of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
This was stated by Gitanas Nausėda at the plenary session of the Support Ukraine forum, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
According to Nauseda, now is the time for leadership and Europeans must take responsibility without delay.
“The security of Europe depends on the security of Ukraine. That is why let me speed up Ukraine’s accession to the EU. I propose a date of January 1, 2030,” Nausėda said.
The Lithuanian president also added that the first cluster of negotiations could be opened in the coming weeks.
“Let’s make Ukraine’s path to the EU inevitable,” the Lithuanian president said.
