Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck several Russian military targets in occupied Crimea and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions overnight on August 1. A fire also broke out at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Ufa following a drone attack.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the results of the strikes on the occupied territories.
A storage facility for unmanned surface vessels was hit near Chornomorske in Crimea. According to the General Staff, the facility was used to store, prepare and maintain drones deployed by Russian forces for combat and special operations in the Black Sea.
The Sivash railway bridge near Chonhar and another railway bridge near Vladyslavivka in Crimea were also struck. Russian forces use both bridges to transport personnel, weapons, military equipment, ammunition and supplies between Crimea and other occupied territories in southern Ukraine.
A Russian Black Sea Fleet signals intelligence unit was hit in Sevastopol. Ukrainian forces also struck:
- a repair and maintenance base near Pervomaiske in Crimea;
- a logistics warehouse near Podove in the Kherson region;
- a Russian drone warehouse near Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The Crimean Wind monitoring channel reported that explosions and gunfire were heard overnight in Sevastopol, Kerch, Chornomorske and other parts of the peninsula.
Satellite imagery reportedly showed fires at Cape Fiolent, where the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s 475th Separate Electronic Warfare Center is located, and near the Kaya-Bash Heights, where Russian air defense positions are deployed. Local residents reported at least eight explosions, a glow in the sky and secondary detonations.
In Kerch, satellites detected fires at the site of the Russian military’s 1630th Separate Railway Battalion and a nearby military unit. Gunfire and explosions continued intermittently in the city and its surrounding areas throughout the night.
Meanwhile, a fire broke out at the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery in the Russian city of Ufa following a drone attack. According to ASTRA, OSINT analysts identified two columns of black smoke rising over the facility.
Bashkortostan Governor Radiy Khabirov confirmed that drones had attacked Ufa. He claimed that smoke in the industrial zone was caused by falling debris from an intercepted drone. According to Khabirov, there were no casualties.
Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim is part of the Bashneft group, which is owned by Rosneft. The refinery can process up to 8.2 million tonnes of oil annually.
Together with the Bashneft-Novoil and Bashneft-UNPZ refineries, it forms the Ufa refining complex, one of the largest in Russia. Its combined annual capacity is approximately 23.5 million tonnes of crude oil. The refinery was previously targeted by drones on June 25.
Ukraine’s General Staff has not confirmed the involvement of Ukrainian forces in the attack on the Ufa refinery.
