Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed prisoner exchanges, possible leader-level peace talks and international drone cooperation during meetings in the United States, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
According to Zelenskyy, Umerov briefed him on the results of meetings with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The president said the United States remains involved in diplomatic efforts and continues to act as a mediator in prisoner exchange talks between Ukraine and Russia.
“The lists have been handed over, and we expect the American side to play an active role in ensuring the implementation of this agreement,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that possible formats for leader-level meetings and negotiations aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war were also discussed during the talks in the US.
Another key topic was international cooperation in the field of drones. Zelenskyy said Ukraine is currently working with around 20 countries on so-called Drone Deals.
Four agreements have already been signed, with the first contracts now being prepared. Negotiations with other countries are ongoing to establish political frameworks for future cooperation.
According to Zelenskyy, these agreements have already brought Ukraine its “first energy results,” including securing the necessary fuel supply for the domestic market.
The president also announced plans to expand Drone Deals cooperation beyond the Middle East, the South Caucasus and Europe. He said Ukraine would soon unveil a new partnership “with another part of the world.”
