Kharkiv plans to implement an experimental project to create a multi-layer system for countering FPV drones. Funding from the city budget will be used for the project.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced this during the national television marathon.

According to him, the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration initiated the creation of the experimental “dome” and will gradually inform the public about the stages of the project’s implementation.

“This will be multi-layer protection, not only mechanical. It will involve electronic warfare systems as well as engineering and technical solutions. Such a project requires joint financing from the regional and city budgets, funds from municipal enterprises that are already being involved and, of course, support from the state,” Terekhov said.

The mayor stressed that the city authorities work with the military every day and take measures to strengthen the protection of Kharkiv. According to him, this work has already helped reduce the number of possible strikes on the city, although the protective measures are continuing.

Terekhov also spoke about the consequences of Russian attacks on Kharkiv over the past day. Overnight, a drone struck a large food warehouse in the Industrialnyi district, causing a fire covering about 1,300 square metres.

At other locations, a manufacturing facility and road surface were damaged. The previous day, a Russian strike hit a company engaged in printing books, where a large fire also broke out.
