This was announced by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

“The 53-year-old Lviv resident acted as an agent of the Russian special services. Since 2024, he had been passing information about Ukrainian Armed Forces units in Lviv to the Russians, and later proposed Andriy Parubiy as a target for assassination. Following instructions from his handler in Russia, he obtained a Makarov pistol with ammunition, followed the politician, and prepared his escape,” the statement said.

After the crime, he tried to destroy the evidence, but law enforcement officers later found the weapon with a silencer in the forest. Expert examinations confirmed his involvement in the murder.

The defendant is charged with high treason, attempted murder of a public figure in connection with his public and civic activities, premeditated conspiracy by a group of individuals, public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order using the media, illegal handling of weapons by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, as well as glorification of the aggression of the Russian Federation (Part 3 of Article 109; Part 2 of Article 111; Part 2 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28 of Article 112; Part 2 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 263; Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
