The defense budget for 2025 approved by the US House of Representatives does not provide for the extension of the Ukraine Lend-Lease law, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova said.

The approved document also does not include new funds for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, as $300 million for 2025 was previously allocated in last year’s bill.

Markarova noted that the NDAA bill approved earlier by the Senate contained a clause extending the term of the Lend-Lease law, but this clause was removed from the final version of the document.

“The Embassy continues to work actively to preserve this mechanism, which is, in particular, provided for in the bipartisan and bicameral “Stand with Ukraine Act”, Markarova said.
