Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty emphasized the need for changes in the approach to the development of military capabilities, which should make the Land Forces the elite of the Ukrainian army.
According to him, the priority is to change the attitude towards the personnel. This includes reforming training programs and transforming training centers to provide fast and highly professional training that meets the needs of the frontline.
“An infantryman should have the most practical skills, and the NCO corps with combat experience will be the main carriers of these skills,” emphasized Drapaty.
He noted that a transparent recruitment model and technological superiority in equipment are needed to effectively respond to security challenges. According to the commander, the army must become high-tech, flexible and adaptive.
The new commander plans to optimize management processes through digitalization, strengthen logistics and reduce bureaucracy.
“The main goal is to critically review the structure of the time spent by officers on paperwork, to find a more useful use of the freed-up resources,” Drapaty added.
Summarizing, Drapaty said he received support from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief: “There will definitely be changes.”
