Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed head of the occupied part of Kherson region, said that a bridge deck near Chongar on the administrative border between Kherson region and occupied Crimea was damaged in an overnight drone attack.

According to him, traffic through the Dzhankoi checkpoint was temporarily suspended for security reasons following the strike. Vehicles were redirected through the Armyansk and Perekop checkpoints.

Saldo said that information on when traffic across the bridge near Chongar will be restored will be announced later.

On June 6, Ukraine’s 3rd Separate Special Operations Regiment reported that its drone operators had established aerial control over part of the land route used by Russian forces to connect with occupied Crimea.

The unit said its drones are striking Russian military equipment and logistics routes along the Melitopol–Chongar corridor. According to the Special Operations Forces, this has already complicated Russian military supply operations and fuel deliveries to the peninsula.

Against this backdrop, traffic on the Crimean Bridge was also temporarily suspended on June 7. Vehicle traffic was halted for about an hour before being restored.

At the same time, Russian Z-channels reported an increase in both the range and frequency of Hornet kamikaze drone strikes, which, according to them, are now reaching areas near the border of Russia’s Rostov region.
