On the night of 29 March, Russia launched a missile and massive kamikaze drone attack on residential areas of Kryvyi Rih. According to the head of the city’s defence, Oleksandr Vilkul, 18 people were killed in the terrorist attack, including 9 children.
Sixty-eight people were injured, including a three-month-old baby. There are 40 victims in hospitals, 17 of them in serious condition, including two children. Two children, aged 5 and 8, were evacuated to Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro in critical condition.
At least 34 apartment buildings, 6 educational institutions, shops, private sector, infrastructure facilities and cars were damaged. Some of the buildings were left without electricity and gas, and repair work is underway.
All operational and utility services were involved in the response to the attack. At night, the headquarters of the victims’ assistance were open to provide material assistance, construction materials and accept applications for compensation.
Despite the tragedy, the city continues to function, with public transport, hospitals and utilities operating.
Also that night, six enemy drones were shot down in the region. In the Kryvyi Rih district, the Hrushevska community was attacked – a transport company was damaged, with no casualties. In the Nikopol district, the Marhanetska, Pokrovska and Chervonohryhorivska communities came under fire.
According to the State Emergency Service, 7 people were injured and 1 person was killed in Kryvyi Rih as a result of a UAV attack.
The attack damaged private houses, a playground, a tramway, minibuses and cars.
