In Ukraine, a court has seized a significant batch of raw materials belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
It is about almost 500 thousand tons of bauxite and alumina worth more than UAH 2.11 billion, which were stored at the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant. The raw materials were produced in Ukraine before the full-scale invasion and were intended for aluminum production at Russian plants of Rusal, a company owned by Deripaska.
According to the investigation, the products were formally ordered by a Deripaska-controlled commercial entity registered in an EU country for further re-export to Russian enterprises. In 2023, Ukrainian law enforcement blocked the shipment of this raw material.
“Deripaska is a member of Putin’s inner circle and is engaged in the production of products for the military-industrial complex of the aggressor country. In particular, his factories produce components for Iskander ballistic missiles, combat drones and radar systems,” the special service reminded.
The SBU notified the oligarch in absentia of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including financing the war against Ukraine. The service also reported that all of Deripaska’s Ukrainian factories were nationalized.
