Apple has introduced a new entry-level laptop, the MacBook Neo, starting at $599. The device is the first Mac powered by an A-series processor — the A18 Pro chip originally designed for the iPhone.

According to MacRumors, MacBook Neo is designed as an affordable laptop aimed at competing with lower-cost Windows laptops and Chromebooks.

Unlike other Apple silicon Macs, MacBook Neo runs on the A18 Pro chip that debuted in the iPhone 16 Pro, making it the first Mac to use an iPhone-class processor instead of an M-series chip.

The laptop features a rounded design and will be available in several colors including silver, indigo, blush, and citrus. Its weight is comparable to the MacBook Air.

MacBook Neo comes with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display without a notch, a Magic Keyboard, a mechanical trackpad, two USB-C ports, and a headphone jack. It also includes 8GB of memory, a 1080p camera, two microphones, and two speakers with spatial audio.

Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours.

Alongside the new MacBook Neo, Apple updated several existing devices. The iPhone 17e retains the same design and price as the iPhone 16e but adds the A19 chip, MagSafe support, Apple’s second-generation C1X modem, and 256GB of base storage.

The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models were upgraded with the M4 chip, 12GB of RAM, and Wi-Fi 7 support.

Meanwhile, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models received the M5 chip and increased base storage of 512GB, raising the starting price to $1,099.

At the higher end of the Mac lineup, Apple updated the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips featuring a new Fusion Architecture that combines two 3-nm dies into a single processor.

Apple also introduced a new Studio Display XDR with a 27-inch 5K mini-LED panel, refresh rates up to 120Hz, HDR brightness up to 2000 nits, and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.

At the same time, Apple discontinued more than a dozen older products, including the 2019 Pro Display XDR and several previous-generation MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iPad Air models.

All newly announced devices became available for pre-order on March 4, with the full lineup scheduled to launch and begin shipping on March 11.
