Italian club AC Milan is considering signing Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who has not played a single minute for Real Madrid this season. The Italians’ interest is linked to the risk of losing their main goalkeeper, Mikey Mignano.
The Italian club’s interest in Lunin was reported by Defensa Central. According to the source, Milan has yet to agree on a contract extension with Maignan, whose contract expires in 2026. Starting January 1, the French goalkeeper will have the right to negotiate with any club and leave for free in the summer.
In view of this, Milan has begun to look for a potential replacement. Among the candidates are top-level goalkeepers who are not regular starters at their clubs. And it is Lunin, as the publication notes, who is of particular interest — primarily because of his experience playing at a high level and the relatively simple possibility of resolving the issue of his transfer.
The Ukrainian’s situation at Real Madrid favors this option. Despite the change of coach, the arrival of Xabi Alonso has not changed anything: as under Carlo Ancelotti, Thibaut Courtois remains the main goalkeeper. Lunin has not played a single minute since the start of the season.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding Maignan, Milan has already begun to explore the possibility of signing Lunin, who could become one of the key options for the club in case it loses its main goalkeeper.
