On Saturday, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence stated that on the night of 26 July, a Su-27UB combat training fighter belonging to the Russian Aerospace Forces was destroyed at the Armavir airfield in the Krasnodar Krai.
The special service published a video showing the aircraft burning in the dark.
How it was set on fire has not been reported, but the Main Intelligence Directorate’s statement says that ‘internal resistance to the Kremlin regime on the territory of the Russian Federation continues to grow.’ The report also states that the Armavir airfield is mainly used for training cadets at the Krasnodar Higher Aviation School of Pilots.
The Russian Ministry of Defence and the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory did not report on the fire at the airfield or the destruction of the aircraft. Russian pro-war bloggers confirm that the aircraft was indeed set on fire at the Armavir airfield. Without citing sources, they claim that the aircraft was set on fire by a ‘woman recruited by the Ukrainian special services,’ who was detained, and that the aircraft sustained only minor damage. There is no confirmation of this information.
Armavir public groups also confirm the GUR’s information that there was no mobile communication in the city in the first half of the day.
