On May 3, Ukraine’s Defense Forces recorded 253 Russian assault operations — the third-highest daily figure since the beginning of 2025. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Within just six days of this week, Russian forces have already launched 1,219 attacks, surpassing last week’s total of 1,150 over seven days. The increase signals a spike in battlefield activity, likely ahead of Russia’s May 9 “Victory Day,” after which some Russian units are expected to be rotated or rested.

The fiercest fighting is taking place on the Pokrovsk front, which saw a record 113 attacks on May 3 — the highest daily number recorded on that sector in 2025. For context, the entire front line saw fewer attacks on April 14, 15, and 20.

In total, 80% of all Russian assaults this week were concentrated on four directions:

        • Pokrovsk: 42% of all attacks
        • Novopavlivka: 13.7%
        • Lyman: 12.7%
        • Kursk direction: 12%

On the Pokrovsk axis, Russian forces continue offensive operations near Kotliarivka, Nadiyivka, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Novosergiyivka, Udachne, Novoukrainka, Datchenske, Lysivka, Mykolaivka, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Nova Poltavka, Berezivka, Novooleynivka, and Oleksandropil.
