The United States has asked Ukraine for specific support to protect against Iranian “Shahed” strike drones in the Middle East.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ukraine plans to provide the necessary resources and send specialists who can help ensure security.
“I have instructed to provide the necessary resources and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can guarantee the necessary security. Ukraine helps partners who help our security and protect the lives of our people,” the statement said.
Recall that the day before, Zelenskyy held a meeting on the situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region. The challenges for Ukraine and its partners were discussed, as well as opportunities to help protect lives.
According to the president, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, and Bahrain face a common threat — Iranian Shahed strike drones, which Tehran is using on a massive scale.
According to the president, he instructed Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiz, together with intelligence services, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the military command, and NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, to prepare options for supporting the respective states. The assistance should be organized in such a way that it does not affect Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia.
“Our military has the necessary capabilities. Ukrainian experts will work on the ground, and the teams are already negotiating this. We are ready to help protect lives, protect civilians, and support real efforts to stabilize the situation and restore, in particular, safe navigation in the region,” he stressed.
