Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian missiles and drones contain thousands of components of foreign origin. He stressed the need to block the supply chains of critical parts to Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an evening video address on February 17.
“All of these Russian missiles and drones that were used today contain thousands of components that Russia does not produce itself. Five Iskander-M missiles contain at least 75 critical components that are not produced in Russia. Three X-101 missiles contain almost 160 components that Russia cannot replace itself. Each Shahed contains hundreds of such components, which are imported into Russia from other countries, and not only from Chinese companies, by the way. Also from Europe, America, and Japan,” the head of state noted.
According to Zelenskyy, blocking the supply channels for critical components is important not only for Ukraine but also for global security.
“Russia cannot do anything without such connections with the world: they are not capable of being strong in complete isolation. That is why blockades and pressure can really push the aggressor to change its policy. But this depends on the determination of the world,” the statement said.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, during a massive combined attack on the night of February 17, Russia launched 29 missiles at Ukraine: four Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 20 Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles, four Iskander-K cruise missiles, and an X-59/69 guided air missile. The Russians also used 396 Shahed, Gerber, Italmas, and other types of strike UAVs for the attack.
