Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russia is more inclined to a truce with Ukraine after the meeting between Putin and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Wiggins.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address on August 6.
After Witkoff visited Moscow, Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. European leaders also participated in the talks.
“We discussed what was said in Moscow. It seems that Russia is now more inclined to agree to a ceasefire. The pressure on them is working. But the main thing is that they do not deceive us or the United States in the details,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, Ukraine has proposed to its partners to hold a meeting of security advisers in the near future to coordinate a common position.
“Ukraine will definitely defend its independence; we all need a long and reliable peace. Russia must end the war it started,” Zelenskyy added.
As a reminder, today US Special Envoy Steve Wiggle met with Russian dictator Putin. According to Donald Trump, significant progress was made during the talks.
