Poland refused Zelenskyy’s request to shoot down missiles flying in their direction because of the lack of NATO support.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference during his visit to Zakarpattia.

“Each of the neighboring countries that are members of NATO is afraid to make a decision and be left alone in this decision. For example, we have good neighborly relations with Poland. We have constantly asked them to shoot down missiles heading in the direction of Poland, where we have Stryi and gas storage facilities. Our country and our lives depend on this gas supply, especially in winter. We asked them to just protect Stryi. Because we don’t have enough systems to protect the gas storage facilities. The Poles don’t shoot them down,” Zelenskyy said.

He clarified that Poland was ready to do this if the Poles were not alone in this decision but had the support of NATO.

According to Zelenskyy, he spoke on this topic with then-NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, but it did not yield any results.
