President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that three strategic facilities inside Russia were struck. Ukrainian forces used domestically produced Flamingo missiles to attack the Progress Rocket and Space Centre in Samara.
According to Zelenskyy, one of the key enterprises within Russia’s Roscosmos state corporation was hit in the Samara region. The Progress centre was involved, among other activities, in electronics production.
“Flamingo missiles were used. It is a strong achievement. The distance from our border is about 900 kilometres,” the president said.
Ukrainian long-range weapons also struck the Savasleyka military airfield, located around 700 kilometres from Ukraine. The base hosts aircraft that carry Russian missiles used to attack Ukrainian cities and villages.
Damage was also recorded at an oil facility in Ust-Luga, more than 800 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
Zelenskyy did not provide detailed information about the extent of the damage at the three sites.
The president thanked all units involved in the strikes for their accuracy. He stressed that Ukraine’s plan of “long-range sanctions” against Russia was being implemented and was intended to reduce Moscow’s ability to continue the war.
“Peace is necessary, and Russia must be able to see this through specific damage to specific facilities,” Zelenskyy said.
