Ukraine has agreed with Germany to supply Iris-T air defense systems for the next three years. In addition, Berlin will increase funding for the production of Ukrainian long-range drones and missiles.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference following talks with the German Defense Minister, Ukrinform reports.
“We are grateful for the supply of Iris-T air defense systems. I will not talk about all the details. We understand the delivery plan now. We are talking about a plan for the next three years. And this is a very important assistance for us in any case. This does not mean that there will be war for so many years, but Ukraine, our land and the peace of our people must be protected by high-quality air defense systems. I am grateful that we have an understanding of the implementation of this project for the next three years,” Zelenskyy said.
The President also noted that Germany would increase financial support for Ukraine’s defense industry in 2025 and announced the amount of €7 billion. This includes German investments in the production of long-range drones and missiles.
“This is a strong assistance, which this year amounts to 7 billion. We are very grateful to the people of Germany for this, for being so supportive of us. And today we talked about the fact that the assistance will continue. There are some things we are counting on. In particular, we have agreed on additional investments in production, both in Ukraine and in co-production in Germany. We are talking about our long-range capabilities: our drones, Ukrainian missile technology and other long-range capabilities. We are very grateful that funding for these things is increasing,” the president said.
