President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is taking part in preparations for possible trilateral meetings at the technical level involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia. According to him, Kyiv sees no obstacles to such a format, but it is important that Washington ensure the Russian side is ready.
Zelenskyy said this after a conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Telegram.
“There are no obstacles on our side, but it is important that the American side prepare on its end and ensure Russia’s readiness,” the president said.
Zelenskyy also thanked Poland for its assistance to Ukraine and stressed that Russia, in his words, “chooses escalation instead of peace every day.”
During the conversation, the two sides discussed preparations of Ukraine’s energy grid for winter and other issues that the president described as sensitive.
Zelenskyy noted that not every issue can be discussed in detail by phone, so he and Tusk agreed to hold an in-person meeting in the near future.
“Only through the united strength of everyone in Europe can Russia be stopped and this sick war be prevented from spreading further,” the president said.
