The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War has returned 8,669 people to Ukraine over four years. Among them are both military personnel and civilians.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in March Ukraine marked the fourth anniversary of the institution, which is responsible for bringing Ukrainians back from captivity.
According to him, some of those released had been held in captivity since the early years of the hybrid war — for more than ten years. The president stressed that each return is an important event for the country.
Zelenskyy thanked everyone involved in the efforts to free captives and emphasized that Ukraine will continue working to bring its citizens home.
