President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a massive overnight Russian attack on multiple Ukrainian regions resulted in casualties and significant damage to residential buildings and critical infrastructure.
According to the president, Russia carried out a complex combined strike, launching more than 650 attack drones and over 50 missiles of various types, including ballistic and aeroballistic weapons. Many targets were intercepted, but there were direct hits.
In Zaporizhzhia, residential buildings were damaged and a dormitory was destroyed. Dozens of people were injured, including five children. Two people were killed. In Ladyzhyn, a seven-year-old boy was severely wounded. In addition to Zaporizhzhia, the strikes affected Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions.
Zelensky stated that emergency and rescue operations are ongoing in all affected areas and that all necessary services are involved. He emphasized the need to restore power and water supply as quickly as possible where it has been disrupted.
The president described Russia’s actions as “a terrorist war against life” and called on Ukraine’s partners — the United States, European countries, and the G7 — to respond with stronger pressure. He urged additional sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas sector and financial system, as well as secondary sanctions against those who support or finance the Kremlin’s war effort.
Zelensky thanked everyone working to save lives and restore essential services.
