Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on social media about a massive Russian strike on Ukraine, which has been ongoing since last night. According to him, the enemy used nearly 500 drones, a significant number of ‘suicide drones,’ and about 40 missiles, including ‘Kinzhal’ missiles. The attack is still ongoing.
The main target of the attack was the Ukrainian capital. Hits on Kyiv’s energy and civilian infrastructure have been recorded, and residential buildings have been damaged. Rescuers are searching for a person under the rubble of one of them. Some areas of Kyiv and the region are without electricity and heating, and fires are still being extinguished.
Zelensky noted that repair crews have already begun work at some energy facilities, while at others, personnel are in shelters and will begin restoration work immediately after the air raid alert is lifted.

The president stressed that the massive strike is Russia’s response to international proposals to end the war. According to him, the Kremlin’s true position is demonstrated not by statements, but by missiles and drones. Zelensky emphasised that Russia does not seek to end the war and is trying to increase pressure on both Ukraine and its international partners.
The head of state called on allies to take more decisive action and increase pressure on Russia, and also stressed Ukraine’s critical need for sufficient and timely supplies of air defence equipment. He added that diplomatic efforts would continue, but that security must be backed up by real action from powerful states.
