Zelensky imposes sanctions against pro-Russian authorities in Georgia

On December 5, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree imposing sanctions against the current Georgian government, including the founder of the Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

He stated this in his address.

“I have just signed a decree that gives effect to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions. These are sanctions against the part of the government in Georgia that is now handing over Georgia to Putin,” Zelensky said.

Sanctions restrictions were imposed on Bidzina Ivanishvili and 19 other accomplices.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of a timely and principled response to prevent the countries of the region from losing their freedom.

“We cannot allow anyone in this region to lose their freedom: neither Georgia, nor Moldova, nor Ukraine. Together we must defend ourselves against Moscow. We call on Europe, America and the entire world to act on principle,” the President summarized.
