Zelensky Announces Russia’s Losses in Five Months of Operation in Kursk Region

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the number of Russian soldiers killed and wounded during the Armed Forces’ operations in the Kursk region. In five months, the occupiers have already lost more than 38,000 of their soldiers in the Kursk region, about 15,000 of them irretrievably.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address on January 6.

“Today is exactly five months since the beginning of our actions in the Kursk region, and we are maintaining a buffer zone on Russian territory, actively destroying Russian military potential there”, – the statement reads.

According to Zelensky, the Russians have deployed their strongest units to the Kursk region, including soldiers from North Korea. It is important that Russia cannot now direct these forces to other areas of the front, in particular to Donetsk region, against Sumy, Kharkiv region or Zaporizhzhia.

The President also noted that today’s meeting of the Chiefs of Staff had featured a lengthy report by Chief of the General Staff Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Bargylevych.

“The first thing is the defense of our frontline areas, Pokrovsk in the first place. I am grateful to all the brigades, to each of our soldiers who are there now. We discussed the issue of manning the brigades, as well as rotation”, – Zelensky said.
