In his video address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that Russia had begun using soldiers from North Korea in operations at the front. According to preliminary data, North Koreans are being included in combined units of Russian troops and used in assaults in the Kursk region. Losses among this category are already noticeable.

Zelenskiy stressed that this step is Moscow’s attempt to drag another country into the war and significantly escalate the conflict. The President noted that Russia ignores calls for de-escalation, including from China, Brazil and other countries. He also stressed that Ukraine would actively defend itself, in particular against North Korean soldiers.

Additionally, Zelenskiy announced that next week Ukraine plans to continue working with European partners to strengthen sanctions against Russia, support Ukraine’s defence and develop Europe’s common defence.
