During the third international conference Grain from Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy discussed potential avenues for ending the war. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is open to considering various proposals from different countries.

Former US President Donald Trump is expected to present his peace plan in January when he resumes office.

“We are open, and I want to emphasize this, to proposals from leaders of African, Asian, and Arab countries. We are also ready to review proposals from the new President of the United States. I believe we will see these proposals in January. I think we will have a plan to end this war,” Zelenskiy stated.

He added that significant talks with US President-elect Donald Trump could take place following his inauguration.

“I don’t know when these meetings will occur, as it depends on many factors—not just schedules, but also the legitimacy of the meetings. If we aim to resolve issues, there need to be the appropriate legislative conditions in place, and the inauguration must take place. Any preparatory discussions could happen before the inauguration, but that’s the only question,” Zelenskiy explained.

He emphasized that discussions at the team level are already in progress. Zelenskiy also noted that some forces are working to undermine a strong alliance between Kyiv and Washington.

“It is crucial for us to be prepared for these meetings, which are extremely important for Ukraine… to prevent certain factions or entourages from sowing discord between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States. This is vital because many would prefer this alliance not to succeed. Russia, in particular, is not interested in seeing a strong and enduring relationship between Kyiv and Washington,” Zelenskiy concluded.
