European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a phone call with Ukraine’s new Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi. They discussed Ukraine’s accession to the EU, the production of defence equipment, preparations for winter and energy infrastructure.

Ursula von der Leyen wrote about this on X.

The head of the European Commission said that the European Union would continue to cooperate closely with Ukraine on reforms that would help advance the EU accession process.

According to her, the “Drone Deal” should combine the European Union’s industrial capabilities with Ukrainian developments for the rapid and large-scale production of defence equipment.

The two sides also discussed preparations for winter and the protection of critical energy infrastructure.

“You can count on our full support, including in your work to improve governance in the energy sector,” von der Leyen wrote.
