UUS drones destroy two high-value Russian air defense systems

Units of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces destroyed two Russian air defense assets in the Donetsk region on January 1 — a Tor surface-to-air missile system and a radar of the S-350 Vityaz complex. The strike was reported by UUS commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi.

According to him, the strike was carried out by UUS drones from the Asgard battalion of the 412th Nemesis Separate Brigade on January 1, 2026, in the Donetsk region.

The attack destroyed a Tor tactical surface-to-air missile system and a 50N6E multifunctional radar of the S-350 Vityaz air defense system, a key component designed to counter aircraft and cruise missiles at medium range. Brovdi noted that the S-350 is a relatively new system, introduced in 2021 to replace the Buk SAM, and is considered a highly valuable and advanced weapon.

He also said that on December 31, UUS units destroyed two more systems — a Tor and a Buk — within one hour on the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions. On New Year’s Eve, a third Tor system and an S-350 radar were hit.

Brovdi emphasized that such air defense systems operate deep behind the front line to protect airspace from long-range strike drones. Therefore, middle-strike class weapons with powerful warheads are used against them. According to him, once detected and hit, such targets have no chance of remaining combat-capable.
