A new round of trilateral negotiations in the Ukraine–U.S.–Russia format took place in Geneva. The work was intensive and substantive, with progress achieved, though without disclosure of details.
This was stated by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov following the meeting. According to him, the Ukrainian delegation’s political and military teams discussed security parameters and mechanisms for implementing potential decisions.
“Some issues were clarified, while others require additional coordination. We are focused on refining the key provisions necessary to finalize the process. This is complex work that requires agreement from all parties and time,” Umerov said.
He thanked the American side for keeping the negotiation process moving and Switzerland for hosting and providing the platform.
The next step, according to Umerov, is to reach the required level of agreement in order to present the developed decisions to the presidents. “Our task is to prepare a real, not a formal, basis for this. Ukraine is working constructively. The ultimate goal remains unchanged — a just and sustainable peace,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky said the talks lasted about two hours and were difficult but businesslike. According to him, a new meeting on Ukraine will take place in the near future.
