Ukrainian troops from the Third Assault Brigade destroyed a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter in Luhansk region. Ukrainian Hornet kamikaze drones struck the helicopter after it landed, leaving it completely burned out.

The Third Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the strike.

During a raid targeting Russian logistics, Hornet drone operators from the SKYFOM fixed-wing strike platoon of the Third Assault Brigade’s Unmanned Systems Battalion spotted an enemy Mi-8 helicopter and sent a drone to intercept it.

The Russian crew was forced to change its flight direction. However, the helicopter’s cruising speed exceeded that of the Ukrainian attack drones.

Once the Mi-8 landed, Ukrainian troops struck the area around its fuel tanks. A second Hornet drone then hit the target again.

The Russian helicopter was completely destroyed by fire.

The Russian military uses Mi-8 helicopters to transport personnel and cargo, conduct evacuations and provide fire support.
