Ukraine has agreements with the United States on the supply of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not specify how many missiles would be delivered each month. However, according to him, this is not enough to protect against Russia’s ballistic attacks.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
According to Zelenskyy, European countries, including Germany and Poland, could help Ukraine with additional missiles.
“Who has them? The Germans do, the Poles do. These are the countries that can seriously help,” Zelenskyy said.
Kyiv is also holding talks on missile supplies with Norway, the Netherlands and countries in the Middle East.
“Every day, I speak with one European country or another, as well as with Middle Eastern countries, so that Ukraine can receive additional missiles outside the American package,” the president noted.
Zelenskyy also said that South Korea and Japan could help Ukraine, but these countries are currently unable to provide air defense systems because of their domestic legislation.
“South Korea and Japan could also help. Have they helped us with air defense during this war? No. Under their domestic legislation and their constitutions, we have not received the relevant assistance,” Zelenskyy explained.
In addition, Ukraine is holding a dialogue with Israel on air defense systems.
“We would also like to receive air defense systems from them. We would be ready to buy them. We do not have that opportunity yet, although we are in dialogue,” the president added.
