The international organisation Artificial Intelligence Ethics International has recognised Ukraine’s contribution to transparent and safe AI development. The award was presented at the AI Horizon 2025 conference for the national AI and blockchain Sandbox project.

Artificial Intelligence Ethics International (AIEI) has honoured Ukraine for its progress in responsible and ethical development of artificial intelligence. According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the award was presented during the AI Horizon 2025 conference, where global experts and industry leaders discussed the future of AI technologies.

The Ukrainian Sandbox — a state-run environment for testing AI and blockchain innovations — received particular praise. The Sandbox allows companies to trial new technologies even before formal regulations exist, enabling faster business development while ensuring government oversight and technological safety.

AIEI unites a global community of experts promoting standards for ethical and responsible AI. The organisation works to shape policy, share knowledge across industries and support innovation grounded in safety, fairness and accountability.

The ministry highlighted that this recognition places Ukraine firmly among the world’s leading technology nations. Ukraine continues to cooperate with the AI Alliance and adopt best international practices to ensure that AI develops rapidly, safely and for the benefit of citizens.

“We are building a digital state where artificial intelligence is a reliable assistant, not a threat,” the ministry stated.
