Ukraine has imposed a package of sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko and is intensifying efforts to counter all forms of his support for Russia’s aggression. Kyiv will work with partners to ensure these measures have a global impact.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, in the second half of 2025 Russian forces deployed a system of signal relay stations in Belarus to control strike drones, increasing Russia’s ability to attack Ukraine’s northern regions — from Kyiv region to Volyn.
The president said that some strikes, including those targeting energy infrastructure and railways, would not have been possible without such assistance from Belarus. He added that more than 3,000 Belarusian enterprises are involved in supporting Russia’s war, supplying equipment, machinery and components classified as critically important, including for missile production.
Zelenskyy also pointed to the development of infrastructure in Belarus for the deployment of intermediate-range “Oreshnik” missiles. He said this system poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to European countries. According to the president, Belarusian enterprises supplied Russia in 2025 with key components and mechanical bases for this weapon, and the cooperation continues in 2026.
Zelenskyy said Lukashenko is trading Belarus’s sovereignty for the preservation of his personal power, helping Russia circumvent international sanctions and justifying the war. He stated that there will be specific consequences for such actions.
