On February 5, 157 citizens, including servicemen of the Armed Forces, National Guard, State Border Service, and civilians, were returned to Ukraine as part of an exchange. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the president, today’s exchange took place after a long pause, and it is very important that it was successfully carried out.
“Thank you to everyone who is working for the exchanges and to everyone who is replenishing the exchange fund for Ukraine on the front lines. Without the determination of our soldiers, such exchanges would be impossible, so every result of our units is what supports the possibility of returning Ukrainians home from Russia,” the president wrote.
Zelenskyy noted that work to free Ukrainians from captivity continues. The goal is to bring all Ukrainian citizens home.
